About the Airport

Almaty International Airport (IATA: ALA, ICAO: UAAA) is approximately 15 km away from the city center. It is  the biggest airport in Kazakhstan.

Almaty Airport was built in 1935. Previously it was part of the Kazakh Department of Civil Aviation. After the renovations and reorganizations, it is called Alma-Ata Airport in 1991 and run as an independent corporation. Later it is renamed to JSC Almaty International Airport.

 

Transport from Kazakhstan Almaty International Airport to the City Center

Several buses are used for the city transfer. Bus number 3 runs to connect the city center to the airport, 24/7. Buses numbered 79, 92, 86, and 106 run between the airport and city center. These buses also stop near the train station Almaty-2, the name of the station is Sayakhat. You can also use taxis and car rental companies for your transfer. Public Transport

City transportation is provided through buses, trolleybus, metro, tram, taxi, and bike. “Onay” transportation pass is utilized for public transportation.
