Transport from Hannover Airport to the City Center

Airport is the ninth largest airport in Germany. It is located in Langenhagen, 11 km north of the city. 

You can go to Hanover city center from the airport by train, bus, shuttle or taxi.

There is a frequent train service to the city center via the Hannover S-Bahn S5 line, which passes the Hannover Flughafen train station under Terminal C. The train runs every half hour to the city center for 22 hours a day. The single-use train ticket costs 3.4 euros and the journey takes approximately 17 minutes. Tickets and public transport cards can be purchased from the ticket machines at the station.

You can also use the 470 bus line to get to the city center. Buses leave from the car park at walking distance from terminal C exit. Buses that run from 04:30 to 23:00 leave every half hour. The single-use bus ticket costs 2.6 euros. You can buy the tickets from Üstra ticket booths in the arricals hall or from the bus driver.

There is a taxi at the exit of the passenger lounge of all terminals. Taxis are available 24 hours a day. Depending on the traffic situation, the average cost of taxis reaching the city center in 20 to 30 minutes is 25 euros. Apart from taxis, you can use the shuttle services of private transportation companies.

Public Transport

Hannover is a highly developed city in terms of public transport. There is very little traffic problem in the city, and since it is an exhibition center, traffic arrangements and directives have been made quite regular and understandable. Trams, buses and commuter trains are available 24 hours a day.

  You can travel for free on public transport and benefit discounts at museums, operas, city tours and restaurants by having the Hanover Card offered by the Tourism Office. Public transport in Hannover is divided into zones. Ticket fares vary according to distance, i.e. the number of regions crossed.

Hanover has 4 main tram lines, yellow, green, blue and red. The lines themselves are divided into 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 17. You can reach almost every point of the city by tram line. You can also easily reach the outer parts of the city from the center by commuter trains.

There are about 200 different bus lines in Hannover including the night time bus lines. Bus routes have intersections with the tram lines and are fairly regular. You can get your ticket from the vending machines at the stations or from the tourism offices.

Another option is to rent a bicycle. Since Hannover is a city built on a flat terrain, cycling is very comfortable and enjoyable. Therefore, it is highly preferred by the most people living in the city. You can rent a bicycle and go around the city streets as you wish.
