Can you already see the notes dancing? Now in its forty-fourth year, the Istanbul International Music Festival is a feast for the ears and this year it will once more play host to world famous artists, music groups and orchestras. Organised by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, this event has the unique quality of being the organisation’s oldest festival. The value of the festival is also demonstrated through its membership of the European Festivals Association, which it has been part of since 1977. The Istanbul International Music Festival has played an important role in the appreciation of classical music for many years and fulfils this responsibility at more and more venues every year. As well as this, the fact that the festival takes place in different locations across the city means that it introduces spectators to Istanbul’s historical and cultural treasures.
